How to scan symmetrical objects

The SOL software automatically meshes all scanning passes, but for objects that are symmetrical the software will need some help. The surface color or patterns are not taken into account when meshing the scanning passes - only the form of the object.

To stitch from different angles into one seamless model you need to make it non-symmetrical. SOL 3D capturing software uses feature detection and calibration tracking to understand which geometric points go where.

To help the 3D scanning process we suggest that you attach something to the object. Make sure the attached part isn't moving when scanning and changing the scan position.
